Strings

Based in Michigan, GHS manufactures a huge variety of strings, including sets for 5 string banjo. The most popular bluegrass banjo strings are typically light gauge, such as the GHS PF140 or GHS PF135. Though low priced, they feature long shelf life and great sound.

Another popular string option: light gauge Martin Vega Nickel Wound V700. The strings have been around for decades (originally as just plain “Vega V700”) and represent an excellent alternative to GHS.
